Refund after paying full medical expenses in advance

With health insurance, you may be able to receive a refund from the health insurance association if you apply for the expenses once you have paid the full amount to the medical institution.

When you visit a local medical institution for unavoidable reasons due to sudden illness or injury while traveling abroad or being assigned overseas.

Since health insurance is based on the principle of receiving medical treatment in Japan,
If you go abroad for treatment and receive treatment, you will not be eligible for payment. 		70% of the amount calculated based on the standard amount of treatment costs set by health insurance in Japan

  2. “Attending physician's statement” issued by the overseas hospital
  3. “Itemized receipt” issued by the overseas hospital

    1 and 3 must be in the same currency unit
  4. A letter stating that you agree to the health insurance society making detailed inquiries to the overseas medical care institution or other organization about your treatment
  5. A copy of a document verifying the patient’s overseas travel (such as a passport)

Procedure

Fill out the application form and check the attached documents

  • Download, print and fill in.
  • It is the total for each calendar month, medical institution, and individual.
  • Treatments and medicines that are not covered by insurance are not covered.
  • Dispensing by prescription is added up on the "date of receiving the prescription" instead of the "date of prescription issuance".
    (If the month you went to the hospital and the month you received the payment are different, they will not be added up.)

Association on the 25th of every month.
